Another asshole

I actually do not wish to post this one, but with the recent passing of a fellow biker due to moronic actions, I felt I should let ppl, especially the local road users, know how fucking inconsiderate and idiotic some Singaporean road users can be.

It began when my Dear and I went for our annual Christmas shopping and went down to Suntec Shopping Mall for our present hunting. As usual, the festive season will always have the following sightings: crowded city area, congested traffic and not forgetting jam packed queue at carpark entrances. Being a cautious and courteous driver, she kept in her queue and slowly move to the front of the entrance gantry.

Just when we were waiting for our turn to go to the gantry point, one car skipped the queue and cut the lane to squeeze into the gantry. I was like "what the fuck?", this driver is blind or what? Can he see there's a queue and he's supposed to join the queue like the rest of us? What's worse is that his forceful entry blocked part of the exit lane from the other side. Vehicles exiting along the lane had to drive around his car to get out of the building.

What is this guy thinking? Haven't he had a single thought that his actions for convenience are extremely inconsiderate and dangerous as he can easily cause an accident to happen? It's these kind of selfish morons who are making our roads unsafe everyday. Moreover, this idiot has his family inside the car. Such ppl are really not fit to drive or ride on our roads.

They can eat shit and die, rid the world of another asshole who might take another innocent law abiding road user's life away for his stupidity.

A gloomy news

This year's Christmas season is being overcast by a sad news: one of our biker friend Marcus had passed away in an accident in Pasir Gudang Circuit during a track session.

The news was conveyed to me by Charlie. Apparently Hilary broke the news to him first. It was indeed a shock to most of us who actually least expected this. He was so young and had so much to accomplish, yet all these were taken away from him by an immature rider. Although I am not a very close friend to him, he is no matter what someone i knew and a fellow biker. I am no less affected by this news than anyone else. Wish I had known him better.

Rest in Peace, my friend and fellow biker. God bless your soul.

After months of anticipation, the talented developer Samir had finally released the much-awaited application to the public.

Basically, this little app will enable s60 phones with accelerator sensor (ala N95) to work like iphone, which allows auto screen rotation based on the phone's standing orientation.

Little app, but it works flawlessly :)

Sms and make calls on N95.....

With my web browser lol.

Read from AAS that Nokia had released a beta version of PC Phone, a web browser extension that can enable me to send sms and make calls from my PC.

So I gave it a try, downloaded the software and installed it on my work pc. Installation went smoothly but requires a reboot on the pc. After reboot, i immediately launch the web browser and send a sms to my dear. Yes! She did receive the sms i sent thru the browser, so it worked as it claimed to be.

However it is still in early stage of development so bugs can be observed like message log is not updated in real time.

Since i don't have the link with me, interested parties can google for "pc phone"

Spongebob tin

Found this at one of the supermart and bought one since it's so cute lol. There's popcorn in there too lol.

Team Fortress 2

Finally the game has gone out of beta and released officially, which means I can get this game individually without buying the whole Orange Box package.

Why would I want to spend 60USD for a package of games where I only need one game? So I gave the beta stage a miss and wait till it's officially released. The game cost me 30USD and downloading the game thru Steam is very fast (less than an hour for 1.4Gb!)

After the download, I fire up the game and I was greeted with the opening screen as shown. Gameplay is very fluid with no major impact on framerate, even when I run the game with above average graphics settings on my AMD 3500 ATI X800 rig. Although I was repeatedly killed by other opponents, I did not get frustrated but instead was smiling at the way I was killed lol.

Team Fortress 2 is a First Person Shooter with an animation-movie type of graphics. Player will be involved in objective based matches where you can select one of the 9 classes with its unique weapons. The whole experience is like you are playing in an animation movie yourself. The game can be purchased thru Steam client which can be downloaded at www.steampowered.com

Nokia Internet Radio

I was stumbling on the net until I saw this app from Nokia for download. This is Nokia Internet Radio.

Since I was never a fan of local radio stations since they don't (and most likely never) broadcast Heavy Metal music. And sometimes I do need some new materials to freshen up my ears after listening to the mp3s in my phone for some period. This app will come in handy.

As shown in the screenshots, it is a pretty lean program and works as it was programmed to. I don't have search for shoutcast stations as it already have a directory of online stations for me to begin with. Metal radio stations are easy finds as they are parked under the Rock genre. Firing up the station is snappy as it manage to buffer and stream the music in less than 30sec. You can even view the information of the station and the current song it is playing. You can choose to use this app with WLAN or your 3G/GPRS connection. For those with unlimited data plan, you can benefit the most from this app, but watch your battery charge though.

Best of all, this app is free!

Firmware V11.0.026 for N95 8Gb

Nokia recently released this new firmware just a month after its launch. No changelog had been released but it is only stated that there are bug fixes for web browser and Nokia Maps. What the heck, I usually keep my phones updated with the latest firmware so in less than 30 mins the phone is updated and ready to test out for improvements.

Since the improvements is on the browser and map, I test out one of the applications I used most: Web Browser. In the last version, my browser will hang up after long surfing period but i do not see it in this version. However, I do encounter the browser shut down on its own. This is one irritating bug. They fixed one bug, but create another.

For Maps, the community commented that the loading of the application is slower than in previous firmware. Upon trying, it is true as it now took twice as long to load the app. However, the speed have no impact to me personally since it is not ridiculously slow to me.

Other than that, I do not see any difference in other areas, even the response time is still as speedy as the previous firmware.
