ROM cooked

Dear had been wanting the new Windows Mobile 6 on her 838 Pro, which comes with Windows Mobile 5. As she has to wait till July before Dopod, now HTC, release the upgrade, i managed to find some "cooked" ROM for her phone.

What's that you might ask? It is a leaked firmware and the user community modified them to suit what most users will need and also fine tune the firmware for maximum performance. In short, the firmware will be more feature packed than the official counterpart.

So, since she can't stand the instability of windows Mobile 5, i suggested to her to upgrade to the cooked ROM since most users praised the firmware a lot. After much hesitation, she agreed to upgrade.

So what you see in the photo is her upgraded 838 Pro with Windows Mobile 6 Professional.

Long Way Round

This series is about actor Ewan McGregor and Charley going on a round-world trip on their BMW GS1200 Adventure. One kind of adventure that many had dreamt of, including me. Oh well, reality bites.....

Here's a clip where they were in Mongolia. From it, I don't think AngKuGuay's Busa and my bike can survive this terrain for long....

And the kind of preparation you have to make before this kinda trip

And of course, you must have money to burn and couple of sponsors with some support crew behind to put you through this grueling adventure.

Collection

Today is the collection of her new toy: the Honda Jazz.

Of course being her first car after getting her license, it's natural that she's extra careful with her driving.

First, parking training as how Danien train Sarah :)

George Carlin

He's one of my favorite stand-up comedian and this is one of my fav scene (No offence to Christians)

Voltmeter

Just added this meter on my couple of days ago. Got this digital voltmeter from Carrefour which is meant for car, but after spraying it to black and waterproof it, this is how it look.

Well, although it's not some hitech equipment, at least now i can monitor the status of my battery, rectifier and alternator. The kick of DIY is a bonus though.

What the hell

Even Korean KTV have metal songs, and english speaking country like Singapore don't have them? Lame for Singapore.

It's finally here!

After weeks of waiting, the free Ubuntu OS CDs are finally at my doorstep!

Codenamed Feisty Fawn, this version is a major improvement over the previous version. Even a newbie in Linux will be able to use it without much difficulties. Best of all, all applications in the OS are open sourced so you don't even need to pay for the softwares!

Oh, and not to mention the eye candy effect which can rival Windows Vista Aero effects at a lower hardware requirement.

Gadget of the month

Yes, the old router is a piece of shit. My wireless connection between my N93 and the router always get disconnected after a considerable surfing. Nothing can recover the connection until i reboot the router, then i'll have problem reconnecting to the ADSL modem.

So i decided enough is enough. After doing some quick research, i decided to get the Linksys WRT54GL router. Why this router you may ask? Although it is already a damn old model, it is a proven hackable router which many network enthusiasts sweared by it. At first wanna get the older WRT54G which is cheaper but the latest hardware revision do not allow third party firmware anymore.

Rode down to Sim Lim and started hunting for it. To my surprise, even WRT54GL is a difficult hunt. Most of the shops no longer carry that model. I almost gave up and in for the second option which is Planex brand, but i decided to try my luck on the last level.

To my delight i finally found the router and when i got it set up, i checked on the net and decided to flash it with DD-WRT firmware.

Now, my $90+ router had just revealed $1000 worth of features found in professional routers

It's finally here

She got her driving license today.

No more bringing around that fragile paper slip that might just get torn anytime.
