Splash Protector

Thanks to Tish, he reminded me of something that I had forgotten to do on this bike: splash protector for the rear shock. The last time I did this was like 7 years back on my CBR600.

So since I was washing my bike, I figure why not find the leftover rubber sheet (inner lining of a tube tire) used back then and work on this bike. After washing the bike, I used the 3M industrial strength double sided tape (which is also 7 years old haha) and stick on the rubber sheet first. After which I then peeled off the other layer and stick it just right behind where the rectifier is.

Ah, now the shock and rectifier are now protected from rain splashes and dirt. Simple diy shit, heh.

Today is the first time I bring my FZ1 out of Singapore and up north to our neighbour, Malaysia since I gotten the bike. As the bike is still in breaking in stage, this is a good chance for me to break the bike in at high speed since I had been breaking in the bike in the city at low speeds. However, Dear is not able to join me today, although I do hope that she can join me in the trip.

We had arranged to meet at Petronas GP before heading off to Kulai for their dinner. While waiting for Maverick, the group were chatting away till we moved off around 9pm.

Being the bike in break-in stage and going mostly with the Hayabusa riders, I am naturally the slowest rider in the group, being able to ride at the maximum speed of 130km/h while the rest were blasting away at 150km/h and beyond. This is the first time I had brought the bike to this speed and still trying to get used to the vibrations on the handles as compared to my old CBR600F4. The front seems to feel very light at that speed... guess it'll take some time to adjust to that.

Waiting for Maverick.....Dunno what makes AKG made that face LOL

Once we reached Kulai, the group had their dinner of prawns, pork ribs and other sinful food while I only sipping away the giant watermelon juice, which of course, couldn't finish LOL. After the dinner and some chattering, we headed back to Petronas GP before heading back to Singapore.

During this trip, it was a good chance for me to test the OGK FF-5 helmet I had bought from Regina. Although the speed is not that much (130km/h), I can compare the effect of my old helmet (Shoei Z-3) and this new shell at the same speed. On the Z-3, the helmet will start to sway side to side at that speed, while on FF-5 the helmet is rock steady and I don't have to fight against the swaying at all!

So what's made this helmet so stable? It's the stabilizer wings on the sides of the helmet and was told by the salesman that this will help in stabilizing the helmet at high speed. From this test, now I know that he did not bullshit me LOL.

LED brake

Light bulb to exact.

Had been wanting my vehicle's brake light to be the LED type, but i simply refuse to get those integrated kit or fender eliminators for this, at least for now. I can put the money to better use right now.

At first I got one of those bulb replacement selling at a automotive shop, which is dirt cheap, ended up not working as desired. The bulb simply couldn't light up bright enough to tell the drivers that i am braking. So I took out and dispose of it.

Then I found this seller on the bike forum selling similiar stuff, but better than what I have gotten earlier. It is a 2 tone brightness 36-LED light bulb that is built for brake light bulb replacements. Got it at SGD12 and only changing the bulb will give me the LED brake light I've always wanted without compromising safety. Finally, heh.

Smoked Out!

Was washing my bike when i suddenly have a thought that I can see what's in the exhaust pipe since the end cover can be removed. If it's fiber then i can remove to make the pipe louder (loud pipes save lives so they said).

When i managed to remove the cover.... What the fuck?!?!

Shut your phone up

Found this app on the net and seems that this creator had gotten ahead of Samir, who will be releasing a similiar program called Shutup.

Essentially, this program is very useful especially when you are in a meeting and you had forgotten to switch your phone to silent profile. What it does is that it can mute the ringer during an incoming call just by turning the phone over with its back faced up. There are other options like changing profiles with flipping actions and the like.

It's a small but useful app and best of all, it's free! Just google for FlipSilent and you will find the app for download

Track my ride

When I first used the Nokia Sports Tracker, the old version was buggy and I had a hard time locking on to the GPS.

Nokia recently launched a new service for Sports Tracker (http://sportstracker.nokia.com) where now I can upload my workouts into to site for all to see, since there's nothing secretive about my movements. Another best thing is that I added the similiar application on my facebook profile so that my friends can check out my routes! My dear can also check out where I have been to haha. In addition, the app can make use of the accelerator in selected phones (N95, N93i, N82, etc) so it can double up as a pedometer.

Although this app is targeted towards people who uses it for exercises like running, walking and skating, I found that I can use it for my motorbiking journeys as well. I just test run it yesterday so you can see my ride to Lavender Market on the site.

This app is for Symbian S60 phones with accelerator, built in GPS or with external GPS module.

AngKuGuay! Make full use of your phone and try it haha!

Firmware V15 for N95 8Gb is out!

Having thought that the next firmware for this phone will take months, this sudden release came to me as a suprise and I have to say, a pretty sweet one.

Why so? Cos many improvements had been implemented into this firmware, with the most significant ones being the implementation of Flashlite 3 into the Web Browser and Web 2.0 engine. With these 2 implementations, I can now watch youtube videos on its site without any 3rd party assistance and I can install web widget applications which will show as an application icon on the phone's menu.

Other improvements includes the data transfer rate for the mass memory had been improved, the loading of pictures in Gallery is improved and camera loading speed had been enhanced.

In conclusion, this is one firmware that N95 8Gb users shouldn't miss. N95 Classic users just hold on tight, I can smell the same improvements coming your way....

Finally!

After 2 months of agonizing travel on public transport, I had finally gotten my new bike to bring me and my dear around the country and beyond

It's the popular '08 Fazer 1000 that was only launched in Dec. Nothing much had changed from the 07 model but colour schemes, which are nicer.

Although Hayabusa was my initial choice, the price for it, new and used, was just way out of my means. And other sportbike model were out for me due to their track-biased design which translated into uncomfortable passenger seating so no-no for me (have to take my Dear into considerations as well). Hence, picked this bike due to the blend of sports/touring design.

Since I had only ridden the bike for a couple of days and only clocked less than 200km so far, I will give a personal review in greater details when I can afford the time.
